Ireland / Dublin - Report 7 - Killarey
by Andreas Glaser on Oct.14, 2008, under Ireland, Reports

Wow what a brilliant weekend…!
As mentioned in the last post me and my friends here in Dublin went to Killarey which is in the south of Ireland. After a five hour journey with the car, we arrived in Killarey around 3:00am. Due to the late time we just checked in at our hostel and prepared us for the night.
The next day started with a three hour walk followed by a five hour bicycle tour… I have got no idea how I survived that but it was just awesome. The nature and the landscape is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen in my live. Its very hard to explain that… so just have a look at the pictures!
If you are someday in Ireland then is this one of the places you have to see.

Ireland / Dublin - Report 6 - Friends
by Andreas Glaser on Oct.10, 2008, under Ireland, Reports

Last weekend was the first time since I moved to Dublin that my best friends from Germany visited me here. We really had a lot of fun together… When you live so far away from home you’re starting to appreciate this a little more. I have to admit I had my doubts whether I would be able to prove how awesome Ireland is because I told my friends so many great stories and situation that it got hard not to disappoint them… But anyway… it was a nice time and everything was more than fine. For instance… my friends were accommodated in a 16 bed room in the cheapest hostel in Dublin (11€ per night). Of course, everybody would say that is no fun at all but my friends were lucky… they got a room with 13 girls from Switzerland.
Some pictures of me and my friends
In a couple of minutes my flate mates, some new friends and I going to hit the road to Kerry. This region is supposed the most beautiful of Ireland. We’ll see.

Ireland / Dublin - Report 5 - Month 2
by Andreas Glaser on Sep.22, 2008, under Ireland, Reports

Two days left until I’m exactly two months here in Ireland, the land of Guinness, churches and green lawns. Somehow, I still can’t believe it that I actually accomplished to move away from home, my friends and everything I knew for such a long time.
In this two months i met so many great people from all over the world… New Zealand, Italy, Brazil, France, Australia, Switzerland, California, Sweden, Ireland, Spain, Albania, Poland… so many new experiences like cooking by my own, ironing and doing the laundry… so exciting discussion about everything and nothing… It is just like living a dream for me.
I just can suggest everybody to try something like this; this is the best you can do
Here a couple of new pictures

Ireland / Dublin - Report 3 - Day 19
by Andreas Glaser on Aug.12, 2008, under Ireland, Reports

In the last days I was searching for a new long term apartment close to the nimble HQ and I have to admit I was a little lucky. The new apartment is just 800 meters away from nimble.
My new four flat mates are motley from all over the world… France, Brazil, India, Spain and now me from Germany. As far as I can say, are they very nice and easy going guys.
The flat itself is not too bad… of course for German relations is it bloody expensive (I love these phrases) but for Irish not unusual.
Now as promised - some pictures of Ireland which are taken by Duncan from New Zealand.

Ireland / Dublin - Report 2 - Day 6
by Andreas Glaser on Jul.28, 2008, under Ireland, Reports

It’s now four days ago since I said goodbye to Germany.
In this time I had the opportunity to view some of the city and get in contact with the nightlife. I can say that the city is very large especially when you lived your entire life in a city which is ~15 times smaller.
Another great thing is that I got a new job here in Dublin.
The Company is called Nimble and is a social network just like Facebook or studiVZ. On the fact that I’m currently developing a private social network “YouDelicious.COM” is this an exceptional opportunity for me.

Furthermore I can say I’m a little more used to Dublin and the way of life since I arrived almost a week ago. The people and the city are still exciting and of course Guinness tastes great in its hometown.

Ireland / Dublin - Report 1 - The Journey
by Andreas Glaser on Jul.25, 2008, under Ireland, Reports

Today (yesterday) is the day… the day I was so long looking forward to.
After a night with less sleep I had to get up at 3pm in the morning to drive to the airport and to say goodbye to my family.
The flight itself was quite relaxed and the relatively small airport in Dublin, as well. But the city… buses, cars and people. I think in the first two minutes I saw more people than in my entire home town lifes
Carrying the baggages from the bus station to my short term apartment was kind of exhausting on the fact that in the first time I didn’t know where to walk at all.
But finally I found the right direction and of course the apartment.
As far as I can say is the city great… it might not looks in every place great but the inhabitants are cordially.
My new companions in the apartment are nice… two of them are from Rom/Italy and the other guy is from New Zealand. Just minutes after our first encounter we walked together through the city centre of Dublin.
Pictures will following soon.
